About Wuxi

Wuxi’s identity is closely tied to its position beside Lake Taihu and the Grand Canal.

The city’s name means “No Tin,” reflecting ancient depletion of local tin deposits by the Han dynasty.

Once a key silk and rice center during the Ming and Qing periods, Wuxi now blends historic sites like Jichang Garden and Donglin Academy with modern industries such as solar energy and IoT. Visitors typically arrive by high-speed rail from Shanghai or Suzhou for short stays.
